Human in scale, Propriano captivates with its balance. The town is organised around its port — its true beating heart — where terraces, restaurants, pleasure boats and departures for sea excursions all come together. Just minutes away, the beaches unfold their curves of light sand, bordered by calm, translucent waters. But Propriano is not only about the sea. In the background, the hills of the Valinco and the first ridges of the Alta Rocca create a wilder backdrop of maquis, rivers and perched villages. This immediate proximity between coastline and mountains allows you to vary your pleasures: lazy mornings on the beach, hiking or canyoning in the afternoon, and a sunset over the port in the evening.

The beaches
Beaches around Propriano
One of Propriano's great assets is the diversity of its beaches. Close to the town centre, long sandy beaches are ideal for swimming, families and water sports. Venturing a little further, more secluded coves and beaches appear, between Olmeto, Belvédère-Campomoro and Serra-di-Ferro. Campitellu beach, for example, just a few minutes by car, offers a more natural and unspoilt setting. Further south, the coastline alternates between open beaches, small inlets and rocky areas perfect for snorkelling.
An ideal starting point
Visiting Southern Corsica from Propriano
Propriano enjoys a particularly advantageous geographical location. About 45 minutes from Ajaccio, 1 hour from Bonifacio and in immediate proximity to Olmeto, the town allows you to explore many of Southern Corsica's major sites with ease. From Propriano, it is easy to reach the inland villages, the Taravo rivers, the maquis trails, the Bavella needles or the southern beaches. The port is also an excellent departure point for sea excursions, towards the coves of the Gulf of Valinco or the wilder coastlines.
